The problem
Twigfarm's beta email-translation service needed to become a sticky, profitable product. Research revealed foreign newsletters were the most-translated content, and peak reading happened during the weekday morning commute — pointing to a mobile-first reading habit, not a translation tool.
Approach
As lead designer I reframed the product around a seamless reading experience with interest-based recommendations, mobile-first. I ran the pilot test that defined our 18–34 target, led GRC (governance, risk, compliance) review for a trustworthy AI product, and prioritized MVPs from journey maps. As data analyst I segmented users with clustering and built an internal activity-monitoring tool.
Outcome
Within 8 months Heybunny hit 4K+ users and 7K weekly reads — 20% over goal — and grew to 20K+ users and 100K+ newsletters read by the end of 2022.
